More empathy for living with schizophrenia thanks to symposium
A better understanding of schizophrenia and its medical treatment was the goal of the Schizophrenia symposium for Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Student Association (K.N.P.S.V.) members. A LUF donation helped make the symposium possible.
How does cognitive behavioural therapy help treat psychoses? What are the possible side effects of antipsychotics? And how does oestrogen affect people’s response to antipsychotics? Around 80 members of the K.N.P.S.V. student association met in Someren in North Brabant to learn more during a symposium on schizophrenia.
The K.N.P.S.V. is an association for pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and bio-pharmaceutical sciences students from Leiden, Groningen, Utrecht and Amsterdam. To make this symposium during its annual conference possible, the K.N.P.S.V. applied for a Committee for General Student Activities Grants (CASSA) grant. CASSA is a LUF committee that facilitates unique new activities by and for students. ‘The presentations taught us a lot about living with schizophrenia’, said the organisers.
Got an innovative or special idea for a student activity? CASSA may be able to help your study or student association. CASSA supports excursions, concerts, symposia and study trips and more. Find out more about grants for study or student associations.
