Committee for General Student Activity Grants (CASSA)
Conference, symposium or lecture
Grant for conference, symposium or lecture organised by student associations or groups within student associations , study associations or other organised student groups. Maximum grant amount: €1,000 for a half-day activity (4 hours), €2,000 for a full-day activity or multiple-day event (8 hours).
Student associations or groups within student associations, study associations or other organised student groups, affiliated with Leiden University.
- The grant will be awarded to an innovative activity for and by students from Leiden University. Repeat activities are not eligible for a grant. A substantial number of students from Leiden University must help organise and participate in the activity.
- Activities organised by groups within student associations are only eligible if they are substantive and are also accessible to non-members.
- Conferences, symposia or lectures are eligible for a grant if their programme is educational and most of the speakers have committed to the event.
- The start date of the activity may not precede the date of the meeting in which CASSA will review the application.
- Activities held on 26 November, the date Cleveringa’s protest speech is remembered, are not eligible for a grant.
- A reasonable amount of the cost of the activity must be borne by the association/student organisation or covered by participant contributions and/or sponsorship money.
- In the run-up to and during the activity, you are expected to actively highlight the LUF as the funding provider. The LUF logo can be found in various formats on our website. And, vice versa, LUF is happy to help promote the activity on our Instagram account.
- You must submit a final report (report, images and financial statements) via the LUF Grant Portal within two months of completing the activity, after which the grant will be paid.

Grant for sports event, drama, dance or musical performance organised by student associations or groups within student associations , study associations or other organised student groups. Maximum grant amount: up to €1,000 for a one-off activity or performance or up to €2,000 for multiple activities or performances.
Student associations or groups within student associations, study associations or other organised student groups, affiliated with Leiden University.
- The grant will be awarded to an innovative activity for and by students from Leiden University. Repeat activities are not eligible for a grant. A substantial number of students from Leiden University must help organise and participate in the activity.
- Activities organised by groups within student associations are only eligible if they are substantive and are also accessible to non-members.
- Sporting activities, drama, dance or musical performances are eligible for a grant if at least one of these activities or performances will be open to the public in Leiden/The Hague and the surrounding area.
- The start date of the activity may not precede the date of the meeting in which CASSA will review the application.
- Activities held on 26 November, the date Cleveringa’s protest speech is remembered, are not eligible for a grant.
- A reasonable amount of the cost of the activity must be borne by the association/student organisation or covered by participant contributions and/or sponsorship money.

Student associations or groups within student associations, study associations or other organised student groups, affiliated with Leiden University.
- The grant will be awarded to an innovative activity for and by students from Leiden University. Repeat activities are not eligible for a grant. A substantial number of students from Leiden University must help organise and participate in the activity.
- Activities organised by groups within student associations are only eligible if they are substantive and are also accessible to non-members.
- Anniversary activities are eligible for a grant if educational activities are an explicit part of the programme. Multiple anniversary activities will be assessed as a whole.
- The start date of the activity may not precede the date of the meeting in which CASSA will review the application.
- Activities held on 26 November, the date Cleveringa’s protest speech is remembered, are not eligible for a grant.
- A reasonable amount of the cost of the activity must be borne by the association/student organisation or covered by participant contributions and/or sponsorship money.

Study trip
Grant for study trip organised by student associations or groups within student associations , study associations or other organised student groups. Maximum grant amount: max. €75 per participating Leiden University student for travel within Europe, max. €100 per participating Leiden University student for travel outside Europe.
Student associations or groups within student associations, study associations or other organised student groups, affiliated with Leiden University.
- The grant will be awarded to an innovative activity for and by students from Leiden University. Repeat activities are not eligible for a grant. A substantial number of students from Leiden University must help organise and participate in the activity.
- Activities organised by groups within student associations are only eligible if they are substantive and are also accessible to non-members.
- Study trips are eligible for a grant if the programme is educational. The amount of the grant awarded will relate to the destination and the number of participating students.
- When reviewing applications, the expenditure committee will look at whether the study trip is sustainable; the transport and accommodation, for instance.
- The start date of the activity may not precede the date of the meeting in which CASSA will review the application.

Grants for establishing a new student association or foundation linked to Leiden University (for example, notary, logo, website and Chamber of Commerce costs). Maximum grant amount: €1,200.
Students, affiliated with Leiden University, who would like to establish a new student association or foundation.
- The grant must be for a new association or foundation for and by students from Leiden University.
- The association or foundation must have an address in Leiden or The Hague.
- The foundation date must not precede the data of the CASSA meeting to decide on the application.

- Sports event, drama, dance or musical performance: up to €1,000 for a one-off activity or performance or up to €2,000 for multiple activities or performances
- Study trip: max. €75 per participating Leiden University student for travel within Europe, max. €100 per participating Leiden University student for travel outside Europe.
- Establishing a new student association or foundation: max. €1,200

Organising or participating in an academic Pharmacology meeting
Douwe D. Breimer Research Fund: grant for organising or participating in an academic meeting. Maximum grant amount: in consultation (grants@luf.leidenuniv.nl).
- LUMC and Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR): students, PhD candidates and young researchers Pharmacy and Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Study associations Aesculapius, Medische Faculteit der Leidse Studenten (M.F.L.S.) and Koninklijke Nederlandse Pharmaceutische Studenten Vereniging (K.N.P.S.V.).
- Individual applicants: You must be a student or a PhD candidate at Leiden University or have a paid appointment of at least 0.4 fte.
- For applications from the Koninklijke Nederlandse Pharmaceutische Studenten Vereniging (K.N.P.S.V.), a link with LUMC/Leiden University is preferred.
- The project start date must not precede the submission deadline.
- You must submit a final and financial report to LUF within two months of completing the project, after which the grant will be paid.
- Applications that contravene restrictive measures adopted by the government or Leiden University or that apply in the destination country (code orange or red) will not be considered.
