Chairs
The Leiden University Fund plays an important role in promoting scientific research and education at Leiden University. One of the ways the LUF achieves this is through (endowed) professorships.
An endowed chair is a professorship funded not by the regular university budget, but by a foundation, fund, association, or private donor. At the LUF, this is often done through gifts, bequests, or donations from named funds.
These can involve various types of chairs: regular, endowed, visiting, and rotating. These chairs focus on specific, current, or underrepresented fields of study, are held by talented specialists, and contribute to innovation and deepening of the academic field.
All chairs can be found on the Professors page.
